GUITAR CLASSES FOR KIDS

IN GONZALES

some of Chris' Gonzales students having fun in 2014-2016 classes

Guitar students at the Conservatory progress through a contemporary method which teaches how to count rhythm, the frets on the guitar, a thorough study of chords, lead guitar melodic line, rhythm guitar chords, and ultimately composing and playing-by-ear. Students will use the Conservatory’s classical guitars during their lesson where they will play solo and in ensemble. They will also play entertaining board games which teach and reinforce concepts. Guitar students enjoy this fast-paced class with their friends which leads to a lifetime of enjoying playing the guitar.

GUITAR TEACHER CHRISTOPHER MAYES

Guitar instructor Christopher Mayes has been playing stringed instruments since age 15. He specializes in twelve-string slide guitar, and is accomplished in acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass. Chris is currently collaborating with Mayron Cole and Colleen Cole to create and publish a group guitar teaching method. In addition, Chris is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, is a retired graphic designer, is a fine artist well known for his Texas Flag series (www.texasflagart.com), and is Colleen’s husband.
